As a child, I spent many hours surrounded my by crayons and colored pencils, sketching my favorite comic book characters or drawing houses designed in unknown architectural styles.  Though my mom encouraged me to enroll in the art curriculum during high school, I chose to study the sciences to become a pediatrician.  However, that bubble was burst when I learned that medical students had to study and dissect cadavers.

Near the end of my freshman year in college, I decided to study interior design.  Why?  Because I was artistic, liked flipping through House Beautiful magazines (a habit that started as a youngster while in the pediatrician's or doctor's waiting room), and admired beautiful buildings.  While my decision was made on a whim, I had found my niche.

I earned her Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.  I landed a position as a Junior Designer in a small but well-respected design firm in Detroit, Michigan.  While putting my education and artistic skills to work, I was getting hands on experience in every facet of the design process.

After taking a few detours that included a career in financial service sales, earning an MBA in marketing at New York University and raising a family, I was reminded of my love of interior design in the midst of a kitchen remodel in my own home.  I enrolled in the New York School of Interior Design to update my skills, earning an Associates in Applied Science with Honors.  Over the years, I worked with or free lanced for a number of awesome, award winning, high-end interior designers throughout the Greater New York Metropolitan area, gaining more knowledge with each project.

In 2012, I founded Alethea Von Interiors LLC, a full-service interior design firm located in Westchester County, NY.  I work closely with my clients to understand their needs, wants, family status, lifestyle and aesthetic preferences and work collaboratively with them to ensure that the end result of their vision for their project reflects the client’s needs, family life and aesthetic style, rather than my own.  “Its’s a good feeling to know that your clients are pleased with your work, not only because it is beautiful, but also because it functions well for them and meets their needs.”

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

J&J PR #2

Robyn McLeod

We wanted a living room that was stylish but not pretentious.  We hang out in our living room with our children and our dog and it was important that the living room design fit our lifestyle.  Alethea heard us, offered creative options and walked alongside us through the process toward a beautiful, comfortable, and contemporary living room.  She created a color palette for the room based on the wood tones of our floor, shades of the stone in our fireplace, and our preferences.  The color and fabric choices for our paints, furniture, and window treatments are perfect, thanks to the color combinations that she recommended.  Alethea offered us a few floor plans to choose from and suggested ways to make our space more versatile.  She sought out well-priced pieces that were in line with our budget and found great sources for furniture that fit our plan.  Robyn M.

Alethea is a talented and creative Interior Designer who thinks outside of the box.  She helped to make my Living Room outstanding.  Ms. Lewis brings her creative ideas into your space and transforms it.  At the same time, she makes sure that YOUR ideas are considered and incorporated into that change.  She is detail-oriented and does her research into the products that she selects before presenting them to you. The end result is a room that really stands out.  I highly recommended Alethea Von Interiors.
